Frequently Asked Questions
Cancellation and Late Change Policy:
Cancellations or late changes happening inside of 24 hours of the scheduled appointment will be charged at the full session fee.
Insurance:
I don’t accept insurance; therefore, my services are considered out-of-network.
I can provide a Super Bill, which is a detailed receipt for services that may be used for reimbursement through client’s health insurance. Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part.
Most PPO plans offer out of network benefits. Please contact your provider to determine how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.
Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?
Is what I share confidential?
The laws concerning confidentiality are very clear: What you choose to share with a therapist is confidential as long as the therapist does not suspect certain dangerous conditions. When clients share information about child abuse, elder abuse, suicidal intention, homicidal intention or if the client is gravely disabled and cannot care for themselves the law states that as a mandated reporter we are required to report the situation to the proper authorities.
All else we discuss is completely private and will only be shared to others per your request and consent. I am a collaborative therapist, which means if there is anyone else in your life, medical professional or personal relationship, that I could connect with to help them be the best support for you and collaborate with them in your treatment journey, I am fully on board. You will sign appropriate forms to ensure all communication is what you desire it to be.
Payment Practices
All services are private pay (meaning you are responsible for full payment at the time of service.)
The full fee for your session is collected at or before the time of service via cash, credit card or debit card. Clients can also securely record a debit or credit card in their secure client portal so we will not have to take time for payment during your session. I do not bill for services, or carry account balances.
I accept cash, debit, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express.
Do you practice mindfulness?
I do. There have been several thousand research studies conducted on the benefits of practicing mindfulness. Practicing mindfulness can open a window to understanding how your emotions, thoughts, and feelings impact your life. It can lead to less parenting stress, less anxiety, lower levels of depression and improvements in sleep and life-satisfaction just to name a very few proven benefits.
In this fast-paced lifestyle, being mindful and taking time to slow down and observe what's present lowers the 'noise' of our busy minds. When you to tune into your body and your "inner landscape," it's a wealth of information and freedom. Mindfulness can give you space in the present moment to bring acceptance to your story, heal wounds, and embody the courage to write a new narrative from that moment forward. I recommend mindfulness to anyone willing to incorporate the practice in their schedule.
What I expect of you:
Starting the process of individual or couples therapy can elicit many feelings. There are times therapy can even feel like it’s bringing up emotions that are more comfortable to suppress. To transform takes time, real investment in therapy, and WORK outside of therapeutic sessions implementing the changes in their lives. I believe in each individual and couple, and invest in every client whole heartedly, because it’s truly an honor to join you in your transformation.
With that said, I expect a commitment from you in our work together. I expect you to be open to learning, growing, and receiving feedback that will relate directly to your role in your life. I expect you to try not to be defensive, and to commit to altering the behaviors that are getting in the way of your growth. When these conditions are met, we have an excellent chance that you will reach your goals.
Ultimately, I'm here to support you and your journey towards understanding in any way that feels nourishing and right for you.
